Art Sub Plans - Leprechaun Trap

St. Patrick’s Day Art Sub Plans for Elementary

Here is an elementary art activity for St. Patrick's Day and March. The blog "Coffee Cups and Crayons" has written up a fun and engaging activity called "Making a Leprechaun Trap."

Megan gives information about how she did the activity with her kids, but you could write up the directions in lesson plan form pretty easily.  There is discussion, interaction and drawing.  With her kids she had them draw on an old cereal box for a 3D effect. The drawing should work just as well on a sheet of paper.  Her post is a good jumping off place for you to create a St. Patrick's themed sub plan.

St. Patrick’s Day STEAM Lesson

If you are looking for a St. Patrick's Day lesson for upper elementary and middle school, you might try this STEAM activity.

Students create a design using radial symmetry. Templates and samples are provided to give the students a boost to start.  You can find that at the TPT shop: Cool Classroom Stuff.

Here's one more idea for St. Patrick's Day that works great as a sub lesson or early finishers activity.

The TPT Shop: Centers and Early Finishers has a doodle/pattern filling shamrock design that kids will enjoy.

Here's one for the early finishers.  "Create a Leprechaun in Disguise."

Are there any other great ideas out there for St. Patty's Day?  Let me know in the comments.

St. Patrick's Day - Leprechaun worksheet...For those early finishers who finish their work a little early and need a little positive engagement to fill their time.
St. Patrick's Day worksheet for creative thinking
Here's a new worksheet in my TeachersPayTeachers shop.

Need an art activity for an independent work packet? This drawing worksheet includes directions; sample details; and a lightly drawn in leprechaun. All you need to do is print and distribute. Great for centers, subs and early finishers too.

Worksheets for Early Finishers are the perfect tools to engage students with time on their hands. Your art subs will adore you for leaving worksheets for those empty minutes, but you will appreciate them just as much.St. Patrick's Day elementary worksheet. This worksheet is a creative time filler for students who need to occupy themselves when their classwork is complete. The worksheet inclues a lightly drawn outline of a leprechaun, as well as a full sheet drawing of a leprechaun. You may use either. There are also sample details given that the student may wish to include or they may invent their own. A sheet of examples is included so that you do not have to do it yourself. This could be part of a station or center. It could be used in the classroom or art room. All the student will need to provide is pencil, crayons and their imagination.
